|Loren C. Lemmon, Jr., 64, of Huntley, died March 8 after a long
The son of Loren and Georgia (Ditterline) Lemmon, he was born
December 18, 1953, in Anna, Illinois. He married Polly Johnson on
June 8, 1974, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard, where they still
Loren attended Harvard High School and Illinois College in
Jacksonville, Illinois, receiving a BA in mathematics. He also
received a MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and a
Masters in School Administration from NIU. He worked for Deans
Foods as Vice President of their transportation company, and as a
commissary manager for Domino’s Pizza. After choosing to leave the
business sector and return to “the family business” of education, he
was a math teacher at Lundahl Jr. High in Crystal Lake and Harvard
High School and later the business manager for Huntley District 158
and Lake Zurich District 95. He thoroughly enjoyed his work. He
considered coaching junior high football and basketball and high
school basketball and soccer as great perks in his teaching career.
He so enjoyed working with his math students and school sports
|He is survived by his wife, Polly of Huntley, three sons: Russ (Kristin) of Madison,
Wisconsin, Eric (Lisa) of Liberty, Missouri, Brian (Jessica) of Boise, Idaho and one
daughter: Elizabeth (Brian) Fodrey of Mebane, North Carolina. He was the very
proud grandfather of Colin, Kyle, and Nora Lemmon, Ryan, Lindsey, Kate, Lucy, and
Nolan Lemmon, Bodie Lemmon and Landon and Alyssa Fodrey. Two sisters, Linda
(John) Bigelow, of Janesville, Wisconsin and Becky Smith of Carthage, Illinois,
brother-in-law John Kilhoffer and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and
nephews also survive.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Georgia Lemmon, sister,
Carmen Kilhoffer and infant sister, Dixie.
Loren enjoyed sports, music, travel, his dogs, and most of all spending time with his
family. He was a long-time member of the Trinity choir and enjoyed playing his
trumpet in his younger years. His favorite teams to cheer on were his children’s and
his grandchildren’s teams and he was also a big fan of the Cubs, Packers and Bulls.
A memorial gathering in celebration of Loren’s life will be held 4-7 PM Fri., March 16
at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, and again from 10 AM until
the 11 AM memorial service Sat., March 17. The Rev. Elizabeth Martin will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard, Illinois
