Helen Josephine Martin
Helen Josephine Martin, 90, of Harvard passed away peacefully at her home
surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

She was born September 5, 1926, in Clarksburg, WV to John and Sylvia (Burke)
Reckart.

Josephine had worked at the Admiral Corp in Harvard, Jones Packing Company,
Super Value, Precision Twist and the Harvard Hospital. She was a member of the
Harvard Historical Society, the First United Methodist Church in Harvard, and
enjoyed gardening, reading, canning, baking, and spending time with her
grandchildren. She especially loved going to the grandchildren’s baseball, soccer
and softball games.

On August 6, 1946, Helen married the love of her life Delbert Wayne Martin in
Detroit, MI.  

Survivors include 8 children Susan Martin, Regina Wythe of Belvidere, Beverly
(Richard) Kottke of Sharon, WI, Pamela Martin of N.C, Steven (Patricia) Martin of
Harvard, Kelly (Lisa) Martin of Harvard, Tjet Martin of Bradenton Beach, FL, and
Connie (Robert) Taylor; 17 grandchildren Troy & Eric Wendling, Jeremy & Michelle
Wythe, Todd Kottke, Brenda Occhetti, Nadine Farah, Leah Payne, Chad, Carrie,
Colleen (Leyden) Martin, Christopher Martin and Catherine (Wetherbee) Martin,
Angelique Martin, Bradley Martin, Jesse Raupp and Nikki Taylor; 15 great
grandchildren Rich, Zachary, Dylan, Casey, Lee, Haylee, Alyssa, Nora, Addison,
Elliot, Callie, Emily, Nicholas, Emma, and Jon.

She was preceded in death by husband Delbert Wayne Martin.

Visitation will be from 11:30-1 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at the First United
Methodist Church, 1100 N. Division St, Harvard, IL 60033.  Funeral services will
follow at 1:00 p.m. with Interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Pastor Eric Blachford
officiating. Please join us back at the church to help us celebrate our mom’s life
with a picnic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church,
1100 N. Division St, Harvard, IL 60033.
