Dorothy Bischke
Dorothy Bischke, 96, of Harvard, passed away at the Harvard Care Center on
Thursday, August 3, 2017.

Born August 14, 1920, to Siebren and Johanna (Tepaske) Hettinga in Ringle, WI.
Dorothy was employed in a defense factory during WWII.

On April 28, 1944, Dorothy married William Bischke. She was a homemaker and
worked at Admiral for a couple of years. She and William farmed for many years.
Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday
School for many years. She also served in the Alterguild, was President of Trinity
League for four years, and Circle Chairman. She was a member of the Women of
the Moose and Golden Agers. She served as an election judge for Dunham
Township for 35 years. She collected donations for the American Heart
Association for many years.

Survivors include her children Rita (Ronald) Layman and Dennis Bischke; five
grandchildren Curtis (Lorrie) Layman, Christine (Daniel) Williams, Cameron
(Shantel) Layman, Corey Bishcke, Aaron (Jennifer) Bischke; 12 great
grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Siebren and Johanna Hettinga;
husband William Bischke; two brothers Andrew and Robert Hettinga; five sisters
Jennie Dittbrender, Della Peterson, Agnes Street, Catherine Kashuta and Mildred
Hettinga; sisters-in-law Nan Hettinga, Ruth Kurth and Ida Juenger.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, August 11, 2017, at Saunders &
McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner Street, Harvard, IL 60033. A second
visitation will be held from 10-11 am Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran
Church, 504 E. Diggins St, Harvard, IL 60033. Funeral services will follow at 11:00
am. Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the
American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674-0001.
